2010 Font De La Figuera Blanco Priorat: Pale gold. Fragrant bouquet evokes nectarine, orange zest, white flowers and honey. Sappy, spice-accented orchard and pit fruit flavors show very good clarity and a juicy quality. Energetic and focused on the finish, which lingers with impressive tenacity and spiciness. This wine has the heft to work with rich foods and the energy to pair with lighter dishes as well. 91 points
2009 Font De La Figuera Priorat: Saturated ruby. Expressive, spice-accented aromas of black raspberry and candied cherry, complicated by deeper notes of licorice and mocha and a hint of dried violet. Pliant, open-knit dark berry flavors are underscored by smoky minerality. Still quite primary but I suspect that this ripe, fleshy wine will be drinking very well shortly. 90 points
2008 Clos Figueres Priorat: Opaque ruby. Exotically perfumed bouquet evokes red and dark berries, incense, graphite and smoky herbs, with a sexy floral nuance gaining strength with air. Juicy, penetrating and mineral-driven, with very good depth to its raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Leaves sappy floral pastille and spicecake notes behind on the very long, clinging finish. Plenty rich but this wine shows very good vivacity and clarity. 92 points
2009 Font de la Figuera Blanco Priorat
$35; a blend based on 85% viognier) Yellow-gold. Complex scents of dried apricot, fig, honey and candied ginger, with notes of white flowers and orange peel. Distinctly wild on the palate, showing deep orchard and pit fruit and candied citrus flavors joined by vanilla and sweet butter. Manages to be both rich and lively, and finishes on a sweet, honeyed note, with hints of fresh orange and flowers. This is more exotic and open-knit than the 2008 version. 90 Points
2008 Font de la Figuera Priorat: ($35; a blend of grenache, syrah, carignan and cabernet sauvignon) Bright ruby. Spicy, mineral-accented aromas of red- and blackcurrant, cherry and licorice, with a sexy floral quality. Juicy, expansive red fruit flavors turn firmer in the mid-palate, picking up notes of black pepper and candied violet. Nicely balanced wine with zero excess fat and very good finishing clarity.91Points
2007 Clos Figueres Priorat: ($75; a blend of grenache, carignan, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and mourvedre) Opaque violet. Expansive, highly perfumed bouquet of black raspberry, cherry, licorice, black cardamom and smoky minerals. Racy red and dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are underscored by tangy minerality and complemented by a floral pastille quality. Gains weight with air while maintaining vivacity, finishing with gentle sweetness and a hint of cracked pepper. This will age on its balance. (Europvin USA Van Nuys CA). 93 Points

Clos Figueras’ current releases include one white wine, the unoaked 2008 Font de la Figuera Blanco. It is predominantly Viognier with a dollop of Garnacha Blanco and Chenin Blanc (for acidity) completing the blend. Light gold-colored, it delivers an expressive aromatic array of spring flowers, honey, peach, and a hint of tropical fruits. It has a creamy texture with flavors of peach, mango, and pineapple making an appearance. Nicely balanced and long, it will drink well for another 3-4 years. The garnet-colored 2006 Font de la Figuera is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 30% Syrah, and the balance Carinena and Cabernet Sauvignon. The aromatic array of smoke, mineral, black cherry, and blueberry is enticing. This is followed by a firm, medium to full-bodied wine with layers of ripe fruit, moderate tannin, savory flavors, and a medium-long finish. Overall, the wine seems just a bit muted.
